TO HP.READ THIS POST, MABEY LEARN SOME PUBLIC RELATIONS.THIS IS A COPY?PASTE OF A POST ON SPICEWORKS I DID EARLYER Priscilla@HP, I am curious about this password issue as it seems its not just a hp one. I just recentaly (3 months ago) left autobody trade of 12 years to start up in computers.
Im a little behind on the new tech sence collage, but I have managed to start a biz buying broke electronics and fixing them, mainly laptops, and am doing pretty good. Then it began with a dell e5500 bios. The help I was offered from them after 6hrs of there hoops was 'we can unlock it, but we can only do that with extended warenty' so I would have to buy to just get a password, after I spent all that time going through the onership transfer procedure. Also was told there was no way around the password.Well, dell dident think it was to funny after they noticed a computer trying to reqister onership with the service tag 'scru-u-dell' after spending another day on it i managed to get dells master bios configure tool. All that time wasted, now im in that position with a hp elite book 6903p.
I called hp, and gave them all the information (had it been stolen, i dont think someone would be doing that) offered to send copy of reciete of sale, from a very reputible pc recycler, what everinfo they want and all was almost good till BAM Its not under warenty! Im no hippy, but if 5% of x amounts of these computers are haveing to be tossed since they are now useless, I would think that could be abig concern for a lot of people that dont know. And dell, even after proof of ownership, most people in my spot would have tossed it. That to me is rediculus and bad customer support. I might be just a small little startup, but i would NEVER and have never sent someone away like that. Then to see this has been a hp issue for this many years, i would have thought that maby there needs to be some sort of a ownership, title, what not set up here. Edison scratch 2500 instruction manual. We dont just toss a car like that, there is a system in place for that sort of thing. If its the content of the computer, wouldent a wipe system be in place?
Hope this make sence as ive gone on to long. Im going to put in 3hr on this password then I think ill just send to hp and have them toss it.and to wit, the dell after about 10hr of work made me a 60$ profit. Thanks dell!!!thell that to my bill colectors!
So, I dont know if this would be a kudos or a burn on hp but here it goes. Ive had this same prob on one of my elite books (6930p) to wich I spent WAY to much time on. So I went with the call hp and do so and so, but to be told specificaly 'there is nothing we can do and we cant esclate it to a claim or what hp calls it.
Was pretty pissed being told that after knowing it can be. That was two weeks ago. Today I was using it and it went from able to do anything that a admin can do (was lucky that mine had boot optinon and made me windows admin workaround) to cant anything. Figured i would call hp and give a piece of my mind about being told they cant fix since I had the web four web pages infront of me from hp site that said otherwise. It was like a diferent company, the person was actualy doing something and made a claim took my info and was getting somewhere. So I think what it mmust come down to is lack of training for some hp reps or just plain dont care. This had to happen right as I bought a motherboard (25$) on ebay.Looks like you have to either just keep calling and find someone who cares (need your uuid and serial and YES they can make a reset file) or just buy a new board wich are chaep and plentifull compared to hrs of the other B.S. Now.on to my new hp g6 with the famous fried mother board issue that is all so common with a quick google search.Last HP I will EVER buy!!!!!!
Thank you for your replies. This is something I still can not understand. Why some are helped instantly and others are denied support???
Hp Elitebook Bios Update
Then again I hear that others try a second or third time and finally get the support they need??? As for me I have all the equipment needed to just replace the BIOS chip. Until I figure the algorithm for converting the UUID I will just replace the chip. Lost Windows password on your HP Elitebook laptop? Is there a way to remove BIOS password after forgotten?
How to factory restore HP Elitebook? In this article we'll show you how to unlock your HP Elitebook laptop by clearing BIOS password, resetting Windows admin password or restore your computer to factory settings. 1Reset HP Elitebook BIOS Password How to remove or clear a forgotten BIOS password? You can reset all BIOS settings (including the BIOS admin/user password) by changing the jumper settings, or removing the CMOS battery from the motherboard for a few moments and then putting it back in. But in all new UEFI-based HP notebooks, there is a built-in utility named HP SpareKey, which can help you recover lost system passwords, such as the power-on, drive lock, or BIOS passwords.
When setting up the SpareKey, you are prompted to provide answers for a sequence of three predetermined personal identification questions. If you've set up the SpareKey, you can follow these simple steps to remove HP Elitebook BIOS password:. Turn on the computer and immediately press the ESC key to display the Startup Menu, and then press the F10 to enter BIOS Setup. After typing the incorrect BIOS password three times, you'll be presented with the screen prompting you to press F7 for HP SpareKey Recovery. Press F7 key, the HP SpareKey wizard pops up and prompts you for the answers to the three personal identification questions.
If you successfully answer the questions, you are granted access and you can reset the BIOS password. Note: HP SpareKey cannot help you recover a Windows 8/7/Vista administrator account password. It is intended solely to recover system-level passwords. 2Reset Windows Admin Password on HP Elitebook If you've lost your Windows user password, you may not have to reset your laptop to factory settings. With PCUnlocker you can reset forgotten Windows 8/7/Vista password on HP Elitebook laptop. No need to worry about data loss!. Download the self-extracting Zip file of package.
Decompress the package, there is a ISO image: pcunlocker.iso. Burn it onto a CD or USB flash drive. Turn on your HP Elitebook laptop, and then press and hold the ESC key to access Startup Menu. Press F9 to enter Boot Device Options and then boot to your CD or USB drive. Wait until the boot process is finished. When a window pops up with all your Windows accounts, select the admin account and click on Reset Password button. The program will unlock / reset your forgotten administrator password immediately.
3Reset HP Elitebook to Factory Settings Factory reset will remove everything from your PC. Before restoring HP Elitebook to factory settings, be sure take backups of your important files like pictures, videos, music etc and store them safely like another machine or USB device etc.
Turn on or restart HP Elitebook, and then press ESC key while the 'Press the ESC key for Startup Menu' message is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup. Use a pointing device or the arrow keys to select File - Restore defaults.
Follow the on-screen instructions. To save your changes and exit, click the Save icon in the lower-left corner of the screen, and then follow the on-screen instructions. Your changes go into effect when your HP Elitebook laptop restarts.
On PCs, the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) is updatable computer firmware designed to initialize the computer during start prior to handing control to the operating system. Due to the sensitive nature of the system settings controlled by the BIOS, a password can be set by either the computer manufacturer or the end-user. Some of the most common BIOS producers include AMI, AWARD, IBM, and Phoenix with many manufacturers making their own changes to the firmware prior to selling a computer on the open market. The common methods to reset BIOS password include: Generating a BIOS password using a hash code, entering a backdoor BIOS password, reset the BIOS password using software, reset the BIOS password using hardwar e, and resetting the BIOS password with vendor spec ific solutions. BIOS checks the boot devices in order of configured preference (traditional default setting is the computer’s hard drive). The boot loader software is executed by the BIOS once located, and control of the computer is then passed to the operating system.
Functionality that can be changed by the end-user through the BIOS user interface (UI) include setting the system clock, enabling or disabling system hardware, configuring hardware, enabling or setting passwords, and choosing the order of boot devices. Although the BIOS was originally stored on a ROM (read only memory) chip on the computer’s motherbo ard, today’s computers will store the firmware in flash memory or EEPROM chips that can be updated after the computer has been sold. Once Intel started producing chips for use on non-PC hardware such as Macintoshes, a successor to the legacy BIOS system was required and is called the Extensible Interface (EFI).
Although EFI provides a number of improvements over the traditional BIOS, it has not yet gained market dominance on PC’s. Prior to the production of Mac computers using x86 or Intel chips during the later portion of the 2000’s and their use of EFI, OpenFirmware was the BIOS equivalent on all Macintosh computers. Provides similar functionality on a Mac as the BIOS and EFI do on other computing systems.
It conducts tasks such as locating attached or installed hardware and uses environment variables to direct the boot process for the Mac. To access the interface for OpenFirm, press the power button on the mac for about 10 seconds. While pressing the power button, simultaneously depress the “CMD,” “OPT,” “O,” and “F” keys once you hear an audible “chime.” Once you are done with the required modifications in OpenFirmware, exit the interface by typing “bye”, “boot”, or “mac-boot” (depends on the version of Mac computer you are using) followed by pressing the “return” key. A lot of the major computer manufacturers use a master password generated from a hash code to reset the master BIOS password. This hash code is normally calculated from a unique equipment identifier such as the Serial Number, Service Tag, System ID, or Express Service Code. On many brands of computer, the identifying code will be displayed after the BIOS password has been entered incorrectly three times in a row. On other brands, it may be printed on the computer.
On some HP models of computer, the hash code will only display if the “F2” or “F12” keyboard function key is press prior to entering the incorrect password a third time. A free service provided by Tech FAQ (other websites will charge you) is our BIOS password generation tool. The tool is designed to make a BIOS password that will work on many computer brands to include: Compaq, Dell, Fujitsu-Siemens, HP, Samsung, and Sony models.
The tool has also worked for many white-label PC’s. In addition to creating a BIOS password from a hash code, a number of BIOS manufacture rs also implement an explicit backdoor password. This password will work regardless of the presence of a manually set BIOS password. The primary purpose of a manufacture r’s backdoor BIOS password is for maintenance and testing evolutions. These passwords are changed periodically by the respective compa ny and success will vary across brand and age of computer. The reported BIOS backdoor passwords to date include.

There are no master password generators for ProBooks or EliteBooks and most business class laptops. You will need to contact HP. Or look at this link. Mazzif’s program will detect your UUID, Serial Number and model number then use that information to produce an.exe file to clear the password. If you find it to be too technical then. Replace the BIOS chip.
If you have good soldering skills order the BIOS chip. You will receive a picture of the chips location after purchase. I ran into a problem I have no idea how to solve.
I took a notebook from my brother (he said it was too slow) so I decided to reinstall windows7 (on HP EliteBook 8440P). I tried to get into BIOS - it was password protected (my brother says the bios password was there from the time he bought the notebook). So I decided to get rid of the bios password first, and then re-install windows. I tried Mazzif's Utility to clear the Bios Password. As per guide, I made an USB and booted form USB. I followed pressing 1 First run - 20 8440P - ENTER (at the bottom of the screen was written something like 'You should make a Second run' or ' You should run the program twice' (I do not quite remember now). After pressing ENTER, the notebook rebooted BUT I CANNOT RUN THE PROGRAM THE SECOND TIME. Now, it says ' Product information not valid' and then (after a few seconds) goes into another screen ' Automatic DriveLock' requesting the Bios administrator password. That nobody knows.
Hp Elitebook Bios Password
I've tried different keys ESC, F1.F12 - with no results. I canNot boot from USB anymore & canNot boot from HDD. Previously: ESC=menu, then presenting a screen with F1=info, F2=xxxx, F9=bootorder, F10=biossetup. I should have just re-installed the windows, and not mess with bios password but I did not know this would happen. Or better to not take into consideration my brother's idea about the notebook being slow. I do not know whom to contact from HP Support to get the customised SMC.bin file that I can use at boot to reset the password (in my country they say to buy another motherboard, it is too expensive). Though, I do Not know if in my case (in 'automatic DriveLock' state asking for password) will the SMC.bin file work or not. I read somewhere that by pressing WindowsKey+UpKey+DownKey on keyboard and having this SMC.bin file on an USB could reset the bios password.
I can Not buy a new chip and Solder it - so it is not a solution (at least for now, I didNot find someone who can or will do it). So I would highly avoid this. Please Help Me.
Greetings HAK5, I have a system/tool I have created that WILL help some of you reset and clear the Password/TPM on select HP Probook/Elitebook laptops. I originally shared my work with YouTube and MyDigitalLife.info (so some of my links point to my posts there, not trying to cross-link or anything.
Just trying to keeping relevant information in the right places. If that's against s the rules, a MOD may edit them out. This is Bar-None the single best software based solution to HP Pro/Elitebook BIOS password resets. No Scam, No Spam, No virus. Look at my 26K+ views youtube video, and read the comments. I have downloads from all over the world, and I'm just here to share my work with this community.
There are now 2 versions of my tool. The Original Windows based system what creates a key based on your input, or the new DOS based tool that gets all parameters automatically. Both links will be presented here in this post. See this for information on my newest release. My windows based solution offers a bit better support for more models, while my DOS tool-set is just easier to use. Please read everything and ask questions. I haven not yet seen a bricked BIOS, but I have see where maybe extra steps are needed to reprogram.
No biggie, just a hassle. INTRO My story begins as this: A few months back, I got an HP Core i7 Probook 6550b from my dad (that he picked up 2nd hand). It had a busted display though. Upon repair, it was found to be BIOS Password protected. And thus began my quest. Long story short here, I did what I set out to do.
I was able to reset the TPM, and clear the password. Along the way, I have applied my technique to a few other models and have confirmed successful TPM reset. This is a software based solution. No disassembly, or removal of any parts (unless your boot order is locked, then there is a little work to be bone, see end of post) UPDATE New Windows Based utility package.
Now archive contains an IMG file and tool to burn IMG to USB. USB will be bootable.
Boot your HP to USB to get system info automatically. Then boot to windows, and run HP BIOS Reset.exe from USB. You can now Import your information and make a key. Reboot back to USB to run your Key. Updated Readme. UPDATE BIOS If you need to update your BIOS, see my post here: SUPPORTED MODELS HP 6550B, HP 2530P, HP 6930P, HP 8530W, HP 8460P, HP 6460B, HP 2230S,HP 6455B, HP 2730P, HP 8530P, HP 2740P, HP 4310S, HP s4510, HP 6535B, HP 6730B, HP 6735B, HP 8730W, HP 2560P, HP 8560P, HP 8440P, HP 8540W, HP 8560W If your model is not listed you may experiment with the ' Make All ' or SHOTGUN.
Windows Based Tools USE To use this system, select your supported hp probook/elitebook model from the drop-down list. The Serial Number field and UUID Filed will need to be populated with data.
This data needs to be that of your own laptop's. Booting to this thumbdrive (if this package was created from official.img) will obtain this information automatically and can be imported. Once data is entered/imported into the fields, click the 'make key' or 'Make All' button and a file will be created in the /output folder. You may then reboot to this thumbdrive and CD to 'output' and run your exe file, or CD to ' output all' and run shotgun.bat ABOUT Displays this information IMPORT Booting to this USB Drive will collect information about your and save it to file. Clicking 'Import' will read the information and fill out the fields automatically. If you have noot booted this thumbrive, there will be nothing to import.
MAKE ALL Is your modle not on the list? Use the 'Make All' button to create all posible keys Using your UUID and SN.
This will output them to the ' output all' directory. This will also create shotgun.bat file.
Boot to this thumbdrive and CD to ' output all. Run shotgun.bat. MAKE KEY This makes a single Key based on your SN and UUID for the selected Model.
File will be created in the ' output' folder. Reboot to this thumbdrive and CD to ' output' and run your exe file. LOCKED BOOT ORDER If your BIOS has a locked set boot order, and will only boot to HDD, you need to take a laptop sata drive and use an external adapter and make it dos bootable on another host machine also placing the files on this drive, then replace the internal hdd with your created dos boot-able HDD. Powering on the machine will boot to the dos environment.
Using DOS commands, navigate to your files and execute them following directions on screen. BIOS will be free of passwords, TPM will be cleared. DISCLAIMER There may be unforeseen negative results stemming from use of this system. By downloading and using my tools, you agree to use them at your own risk.
This was originally for myself, but I have opened up to the community. I am not a professional programmer. There is no guarantee of success using this tool, even on units that are marked as 'confirmed'.Enjoy VIDEOS Thank you for looking.
